Summary: MacAulay Askernish Ltd (MAL Civils) is currently recruiting a SHEQ Advisor to provide comprehensive support in ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams to maintain high standards across all operational activities. MAL Civils partners with various clients, delivering a full turnkey solution from survey and inspection to design, construction, handover, and planned maintenance. Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, this role plays a crucial part in fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the organisation. MAL Civils holds a number of long-term frameworks with Scottish Water and SSE, over the next 10 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring company systems and processes are complied with via site inspections/audits.
  • Monitoring the relevant areas of work for SHEQ compliance and bringing findings to the attention of the SHEQ Manager.
  • Improving and Implementing effective systems to develop a positive health & safety culture.
  • Advising and assisting the project on SHEQ matters.
  • Developing relationships locally with clients.
  • Ensuring accident and incident investigations are carried out, monitoring that all actions are followed up and completed.
  • Liaising and coordinating with the SHEQ Team to ensure consistency throughout the business.
  • Attending/presenting at client SHEQ meetings/forums and communicating findings.
  • Maintaining personal competence.
  • Working with various parties from the SHEQ team to address specific issues.
  • Taking an active part in the continual development of the SHEQ Management System.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to SHEQ compliance and improvements.
  • Utilising advanced tools and software for monitoring and reporting SHEQ compliance.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH General
  • A good understanding of CDM
  • A good understanding of HSG47/Underground Utility Avoidance (Desirable)
  • Environmental knowledge (Desirable)
  • Experience in electrical utilities (Desirable)
  • NEBOSH Construction (Desirable)
  • NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5 (Desirable)
  • IOSH membership (Chartered or working towards) (Desirable)
  • Environmental Qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH Environmental Certificate) (Desirable)
